News: Alliance Home Entertainment TV-on-DVD Releases, Nov. 2010-Jan. 2011
Andromeda: Season 5 (January 4, 2011)
C.A. Conseil d’administration: Complete Series (November 9, 2010)
Passe-Partout: “Coffret” (November 16, 2010)
TekWar: Complete Series (?)
The Adventures of Sinbad: Season 2 (January 4, 2011)
The Adventures of the Black Stallion: Season 2 (November 9, 2010)
Trailer Park Boys: “Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys” DVD | Blu-ray
(December 7, 2010)
You will notice Passe-Partout‘s box set listed as “Coffret.” From what I can tell, Alliance Vivafilm is re-releasing its Passe-Partout volume sets, packaging them as a collection. At around $200, I can’t see a market for the set, even though Passe-Partout is encoded into the DNA of every French-speaking Quebecer born in the late 1970s and 1980s.
I question the wisdom of Alliance releasing the TPB special two years after its airdate. I see no point in releasing Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day before the special that preceded it. I guess Countdown to Liquor Day is a bigger commercial lure, being the third TPB film. I don’t know.
As for The Adventures of Sinbad and Andromeda, they finish their runs on January 4, 2011. This begs the question: which shows will Alliance mill through next? I mean, the world is at the point where Airwolf‘s fourth season is worthy of release.
Seriously, the Vancouver season of Airwolf! A lot of Airwolf fans count the fourth season as a separate show, but here we are. It’s 2011 and you get to see tons of stock footage of a Bell 222, plus Barry Van Dyke! Night Heat can’t come to DVD why?

Interview | Nick Cross, Angora Napkin/Yellow Cake/The Pig Farmer
Nick Cross is the other half of Angora Napkin, although he’s better known for his short animated pieces. The Waif of Persephone (2006), Yellow Cake (2009) and The Pig Farmer (c. 2011) touch on subjects like classical mythology and reactionary politics, while animated in a 1940s-inspired cartoon style.
Cross worked on both The Ripping Friends and Ren & Stimpy ‘Adult Party Cartoon.’ John Kricfalusi loves the man’s style. When I mentioned the possibility of a Nick Cross interview to Cartoon Brew‘s Jerry Beck…well, let’s just say Beck wasn’t unenthusiastic.
Nick Cross fans don’t need me to tell them why he’s worthy of an interview. I’m amazed I’ll publish this interview three days after Troy Little’s. Hell, I’m even timely in this one. Hold on to your butts. You’re watching me pimp in record time.

Interview | Troy Little, Angora Napkin
The Angora Napkin comic, published by IDW in 2009, was recently nominated for a 2010 Eisner Award, in the Best Publication for Teens category. AN lost to Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson’s Beasts of Burden, but the nomination’s still an honour.
Oh, almost forgot, Teletoon commissioned an Angora Napkin pilot. Said pilot will air October 31, 2010 at 11:30 PM ET/PT, as part of the Teletoon Detour at Night Pilot Project. You may have seen me promote the Teletoon Pilot Project at some point in time, but don’t quote me on that.
This is an interview with just one of the Angora Napkin creators. I plan to interview the other AN creator, Nick Cross, later this month. This might look like favouritism, but you don’t usually see a Ren & Stimpy-like adult animated series on Teletoon. At least I admit my bias.
