REVIEW FOR 2 2 2 MINTS IN 004
CABLE
NEVER TRUST A GEMINI
THIS DARK REIGN, 2003
This is the fourth review in a row where I can't find any fucking information about the band's mailing address. It infuriates me, because this information isn't so important that you can't reveal it to the public. Who in the hell is going to send a mailbomb to Cable because some guy sacrificed a piggy in the name of the band? Well, okay, either crazies or me. Of course, I don't know how to make a mailbomb so come on, Cable. Make with the address chop chop. Don't make me go upside your singer's head.
To be honest, I wasn't impressed with this band at first. Never Trust A Gemini sounded like atypical stoner rock, sludgy jams with metalcore singer and undue hype. It's one of those albums that "grew" on me, though. During one of my many moments where I complained about the slow growth of this 'zine and how everything would have been better if I had continued with the stupidity of 1999 (or even 2001) and liked rap like I did five years ago, I actually connected with Cable. There is a pronounced country-meets-Man's Ruin influence on Never Trust A Gemini, and it's actually entertaining. The vocals are still terrible and are the weak point of the band (monotonous high-pitched screaming is never entertaining to me) but I haven't heard a band sound this real in months. I'm not going to go so far and call what Cable does doom, but it sounds like music I'd unhappily drink a few bottles to while whining about the stupidity of the world. Never Trust A Gemini is so drenched with emotion that it can't be ignored, as it focuses the mighty stoner riff to its doomy peak. It might not be death metal but Cable has a sound all its own that it focuses on, never deviating from its goal or purpose. Normally I'm wary of bands that the "hard music" scene gives props to but Cable is the real deal. May Cable be successful for years to come.
By the way, have the guys in Cable ever thought of including a Rob Liefeld drawing as the cover of the band's next album? SEE, HE HAS NO FORMAL TRAINING AND HE'S SO EXTREEEEEEME! I mean, look at this site and tell me this guy's not AWESOME! NUFF SAID!
